Thread Signal
Privacy policy
Effective October 10, 2026
Thread Signal analyzes Reddit posts only after you enable analysis. The extension developer does not operate a server and does not receive your Reddit content or API key.
Information the extension handles
On a Reddit post page, Thread Signal reads the post title, post body, page address, and up to 50 comments currently visible on the page. It also stores your selected AI provider, model, consent choice, and API key in your local Chrome profile.
How information is used
The post title, body, and visible comment text are sent over HTTPS to the AI provider you select so it can classify the post and comments. The page address is used locally to distinguish cached results and is not included in the provider prompt.
Third-party providers
Content is shared only with the provider you choose: OpenAI, Anthropic, or OpenRouter. Their retention and processing practices are governed by their own policies and your account settings.
Storage and retention
Your provider settings and API keys remain in chrome.storage.local until you clear them or uninstall the extension. Raw Reddit text is not saved. Analysis results may be cached in Chrome's session storage for up to six hours to avoid duplicate API charges and are cleared when the browser session ends.
What the developer does not do
Thread Signal does not sell data, use data for advertising, create user profiles, run analytics, or allow the developer to read analyzed content. Information is used only to provide the extension's visible analysis feature.
Your controls
You can disable analysis or clear the selected provider's key from the extension popup. Removing the extension deletes its locally stored settings. You can also manage or delete data held by an AI provider through that provider's account controls.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use
Thread Signal's use and transfer of information complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
